Ok guys I ordered the little holders now the waiting game...on a side not is there supposed to be any slack in the throttle cable when the bike is just sitting there. Because mine has a noticeable amount. I will take a picture of it when I get home.

Not sure the exact factory amount but I set mine to 3mm free play. The exact numbers will be in your manual if you have one

I do, I'll check when I get home. I'd say mines at about a half a inch lol.

That's probably a bit too much. If it has too much free play your engine will rev up when you're not touching the throttle

The throttle grip adjustment is fairly standard for many Kawasaki motorcycles -->> 2-3mm of free play, which isn't much. If it hasn't been done, lubricate the cable, especially the ends and where the cable rides in the sleeve groove. Also, lube the throttle grip - remove it & apply grease to the handlebar.

Keep plugging away - you'll get it sorted out. The throttle adjustment should be easy. Lubricating the cable can be bit of work, as you have to open the right switch assy & you may have to remove the fuel tank. It should be done though. A broken throttle cable would be a bummer, especially if you are far from home.

To adjust the cable you just need to tighten or loosten the nuts on the ends of the cables until you have the throttle response you're looking for

From the diagrams & ebaayy photos, hIs 83 650-CSR throttle cable may have only one adjuster which is at the grip end... kinda unusual... and it seems to be a thumb screw type, kinda similar to the clutch cable, so no tools required? weird.

Update on everything, the carb holders are suppose to be here Tuesday. YAY! But I was looking at the screws that hold mine on and they aren't jis screws or Philips they are like star screws. Which has me a little worried. I gotta see if I have a bit or any tool to get them out.

Also! I noticed there was a difference between the little rubber boots that go from the air box to the carb. How do I know which one goes where?
