Ok, so I hear there is a way to judge how my bike is running jus from looking at the plugs. Would any one care to describe this process.

3 of them look alittle lean and that 4th one is that the plug where the bad wire was.it not firing or bad compression.take a compression check if u can.see what the readings are.plus google how to read spark plugs.lots of info, even youtube video's.if that 4th one was the one with the bad wire change the wire and see how it runs.only running on 3 cylinders is what it looks like.

Ok thanks a lot. I know you guys are tired of hearing/seeing it but thanks again so much everyone for the help. Btw to Martin I took that little cap on the right hand side and inside was spotless so I didn't touch it. I have pictures if you would like to see.

Hi, new question. If I buy just normal spark plug wires do I need to buy the little NGK plug caps with resistors built in them or buy new plugs that the r in the name (b7res I believe)?

With a mechanical advancer, I don't think you have to worry about the resistor stuff. I don't know what type of spark plug wires & caps the 650-CSR came with originally. For the correct spark plugs you can use either NGK B7ES or ND W22ES-U.

I installed a Dyna spark plug wire set (DW200 - 7mm copper core) & the green Dyna 3.0 ohm coils from Z1Enterprises.com, and I use the NGK spark plugs.

What exactly does it do and if I don't use one what harm would it do? I've always wondered about resistors and what not.

I don't think there will be any harm to the bike. The ignition system can cause interference to other stuff not related to the motorcycle - electronic devices, such as radios & maybe walkie-talkies. Later models have electronic timing advance - I think the 84 KZ700 is in that category since it has a non-mechanical pulsing coil rotor, but I have no idea if those bikes need suppression core spark plug wires or resistor caps - I'd guess there could be interference w the ignition, but I really don't know. At any rate I wouldn't worry about it.

Ok guys I ghetto rigged some 76 celica spark plug wires on there for now. Still seems to be running the same. When I rev it idle will catch. If I play with the idle screw it will come down. I have to have idle so low the bike seems like its about to die for it not to catch. All that I see left to do is sync the carbs and check the gas level in each carb. My tube should be here soon for that.

Also correct me if I am wrong but from the back tire facing the front of the bike the wires go in this order

2. 4

3. 1
