Several weeks ago I did some work to the bike, took the pics, and of course the memory card craps out and needs reformatted.

I moved a small cross brace because it was going to interfere with my CO2 bottle and regulator that I still needed to mount at the time. The first pic is of my '78 1000 just to show a "before" pic of the stock cross brace location.

To mount my CO2 bottle, I went to a swap meet a couple weekends ago and found some really cool machined aluminum clamps for $4/ea, so I bought a couple. I didn't need the smaller clamp part so I cut the clamp and used a bench grinder and files to get a nice profile.

I welded a couple small tabs to the frame that would be sandwiched between the two clamp halves and the bottle is mounted.

Next up is fabricating proper passenger peg mounts and a new rear M/C mount as I don't like the one I made already.

Excellent work my friend. I like the DZus fasteners for the side covers. I was planning to do that with mine, and its nice to know someone has made it work. Good stuff man, good stuff B)

That 9oz. CO2 bottle should be good for about 200 shifts without refilling! I'm trying to make everything fit under the seat and behind the sidecovers. I think it should all fit underneath there....

I just need to make sure my building/fabrication momentum doesn't slow down like it did last year or this bike will never get finished.:(

I know its been a couple months but I got my swingarm extensions machined by a buddy's father. I started out with a 1.5"x3"x36" bar of 6061-T6511 aluminum. After about 8 hours of machining, on a manual vertical mill, two 14" long extensions had been made. The extensions are identical except for the placement of threaded holes for swingarm spools and the right extension has a slot on the inside for the rear caliper bracket to slide in. The extensions provide approximately 4.5"-9.5" over stock length.

I still need to press the extensions all the way into the arm as well as have the arm jigged and the extensions welded in. I also need to round off the corners and try to get them to the same curve as the arm itself so everything blends in.

those turned out nice.your buddies dad did a good job.i spent 23 hours milling out the axle plates for my swingarm.they are steel tho,it cuts a little slower and i learned a couple tricks since then.so i could do another set quicker.
keep us posted,

Leon,

Did you reuse the R1 axle? I have a Busa axle and it's longer than my swingarm is wide by about 1" so now I'm not sure what to do for an axle?!

Try D&G Chassis. I THINK they can make axles for whatever you need.

yes doug i did reuse the axle and spacers from the r1.it was built hollow and the threaded end is smaller than the rest of the axle.so cutting it down and threading it wasn't an option for me if it had been to wide.
what about cutting the end with the flats on it off and shortening the axle and building a new nut with a through hole so it could be slid over the tube and then tig welded on the outside?i think if it was mine i would prolly do it that way,but it would be my a$$ sliding down the road if it failed  .just a thought,

Another little update....

Picked up a Ducati Monster front fender. I think the slimmer, smaller fender will make the front end look beefier and help tie everything together to the old school bodywork.

Now I just need to make some tabs to weld onto the fork lowers. Anyone have suggestions on how thin/thick to make the mounts?

in my experiance with air shifters anyway the biggest issue with air shifters is keeping pressure between 120-130 in the tank to make shifter work right, remember co2 soaks up moisture like a sponge if you have access to nitrogen id suggest it.

Still recovering, some days are better than others.
