Finally made some progress. It's not much but it's better than nothing. I redid the back of the subframe with a new crossbar and managed to fab a taillight mount that I don't despise. I think it turned out as good as it can.
Now on to pics...

I do have a bit of an update. I managed to score a outboard bearing support for a heck of a deal from MTH76 (Mark). I couldn't help myself so I mocked it up real quick.
It appears that the chain run should clear the frame without too much but I need to do some more measurements to make sure.

Great find.
it looks great. i'm putting mine on now too. i just sent mine out to have the clutch hole bored larger. this will allow me to run a hydraulic clutch.
i'm trying to come up with a dif rear mount , so i dont have to weld a threaded sleeve to the frame.

Re: My '76 z900 'Strip-fighter...sorta
29 Aug 2012 12:56doug,
tapped me to extend and underbrace his gixxer arm that he is using for his project.
i am just in the preliminary stages,i have the original ends cut off the arm,and the extensions machined to fit inside the tubes.
i am also going to create an underbrace using 1" o.d. x .120 wall thickness 6061 seemless tubing.
here are some pics to whet your appetites  .
this is what doug sent me.
here is the arm with the extensions mocked up.
more to come,

Looking good so far Leon. That's going to be one heck of a long arm. Hopefully I'll make enough power to fully utilize it. :woohoo:

Very cool.
Doug, i'm looking at your support plate. i need to make spacers for mine. r yours solid alum rod, drilled and tapped?? do u and Leon (or others)think it would be bad if i used tubing and threaded rod?? just so much easier for someone like me that doesnt have a lot of tools. i could tap rod, but i'm able to get the holes perfectly centred.

The spacers are just aluminum tubing with a through bolt. I can get you lengths of the spacers and bolts if you want?
