What jap car was that > I know its off topic but cant think of any jap cars anyone lusting for lol.
I lusted for Toyota extracab pickups, but never did get one. I ended up with a Datsun pickup though, the poor man's Toyota. But when I totaled that in 93, the insurance payout bought me my first 4runner. Except for a brief

I think what did Harley in was AMF, the cone motor and "Hey Art why does it say MADE IN JAPAN on your fork legs?" SHUT UP STEVE". I remember Harley was prevented from coming out with multi valve heads at that time too. They went employee owned and started back up but continued out sourcing parts for their bikes and my GENUINE HARLEY DAVIDSON jacket I paid $450 in 87 made in CHINA. That company has been struggling for decades. INDIAN didn't help ether. They just replaced their CEO because he was making bad decisions and policy. Their market share is drying up due to age and the younger set isn't interested in big heavy motorcycles anymore. From what I've read motorcycle sales are down industry wide. I hate to see it but maybe that will change too.The tariff added to the imported Japanese bikes in the mid-eighties, was in response to H.D whining that the Japanese were flooding the market with cheap bikes. The tariff actually helped the Lincoln Plant as we built a higher percentage of the +700cc bikes.

Maybe MADE IN USA will mean something again.

AMF sold HD in 1981. They were a non factor in the tariffs.

I didn't say it was a factor in the teriffs. I meant it had an impact on their sales.

That is precisely what I was lusting for, but in dark blue, without the roll bar.

I suspect what it will mean is significantly higher prices for you guys when you factor in American real estate prices,, labour rates, H&S guidelines, environmental policies, unions etc . There is a reason why so many major western brands manufacture in Asia and the Orient but if you are fortunate enough to be able to pay more for everything then patriotism is a great qualitySWest post=916999 userid=43940

There was a line from an old movie that came to mind. "Maybe we all should look under our own beds"
