You're on the boil today re: some mods and upgrades, eh?

I have RS34s, had GSXR flatslides before that which were very difficult to tune for happiness anywhere but WOT. Got frustrated and tried the RS34s for their reputation fo being highly adaptable. Can't comment too much on the VM33s, though they're a bit notorious for fussiness. I did have the old stock 28s on mine for awhile.

I can say this: the RS34s are easy to work with and solved just about all my problems except perhaps a bit of "breathiness" (a bit of a bog, gasping for air) in the mid range. (And I think that's because I failed to install a 1200 kit  ) I have a 1015cc Wiseco kit and for my head/cam/carb combination I think a bit more displacement would help -- as is, my bike wants 6000+ rpms before it's really crisp.

Elseed! "BREATHINESS!" Love the term... I was gonna call it the "BIG GULP" of air that sends the large diameter carbs into confused mode but Big Gulp had already been taken... the RS34 seems to suffer the same issue as the VM33 so I think we have a "air too slow to draw gas with throttle all the way open" problem with those things as well. Based on what I am seeing, the answer seems to be smaller venturi diameter carbs or a lot bigger engine. The smaller venturi diameter increases airspeed and thus throttle response. If you want BIG carbs on an engine that can't support mechanical slide carbs that big, try some 36mm or 38mm constant velocity carbs I guess. Engine vacuum drags the slides up and gas will come out regardless and you would likely avoid these issues.

BTW: I just ordered some main air jets in size .5 and .6 to experiment some to see if they helped cure "breathiness" or the "big gulp" issue. Once I find out, I will post results. Don't know what the main air jet size is on an RS34 as I don't have specs for those as well but this info might help elseed out some if it turns out the problem is helped by choking he main jet some.

i tried moveing the needles from #3 to #4 and its about the same ,slite improvement maybe, but the plugs are rick(black).
i tryied without pods today.just to see if it made any dif ,but it was way worse(reinforcing the, too lean theory)even put the choke on,no help.
im thinking about reducing the id of the venturi throat? what do u guys think? if i could find a way to inset a sleave on the head side, would i make it round or try to keep the floor the same level so the incomeing fuel is not disturbed??

We have had good luck with the 36s on the
gs1150 Suzukis.Almost as much up top,great
midrange compared to the 33s.We use the K&N
jet kit and needles.A set should work good
on a KZ if you can find some.

would you recomend the 34"s over the 36"s,what needles?
why would the 33's flow better on top?
