Wasn't trying to suggest cranking the cases. Just saying that there is always one more thing that can be done. Didn't mean to offend anyone with my opinion of sending it to a professional to redo the head with shims done as well so all you have to do is bolt the thing back on.

head should torqued down on motor before final shimming of valves. :)

Rings and valve seals arrived today, along with all new exhaust studs
I will post pictures of the cleaned head as soon as it's done.

I guess I lost my cool. In my business I've had to deal with engineers that always want to try something else, R&D forever, old timers that won't take suggestions, new people that seem to listen but you can see the wheels spinning in their heads while you are talking to them and owners complaining about how it's taking so long. It happens in every business
If I was too harsh, I apologize.

The first one is about what he has. The third one is what they call for in racing. "Pencil" thin. In the real world they turn out like the first. The bike can and will run that way and if the seat is good, the excess width can be ground out.
I'll wait to see how they look before suggesting any more on them.

He told me the 40-1007 springs will not cause premature wear and the titanium retainers are suggested but not necessary for drop in cams. The seating pressure is 90 LBS up from 50 LBS. He said I won't have any problems with them They will send me a statement to this effect to share with others.

I used APE springs on my 650....... I was hoping for 10,000 or just under so I had em set em up at 80lbs 10% less than the normal 90lbs to still control things and yet be a little easier on the valve train.

Might still be a little over kill but then again I might spring for a .365 cam someday.
