this is what the spring was hooked up to. i noticed its slightly bent...is that ok?

holds the spring for shifter linkage,worry about that after cases are cleaned up

did you forget something on top of the oil filter housing?
now soak the stripped down cases,pan,block and head down with simple green or 409 and head off to the car wash
