hi guys. i was told i had 30-45 psi for compression. now that i have the top off what do i do, or look for?

First,do another compression test,but make SURE you have the throttle wide open!
From there,you will need to get some feeler-gauges(in the 4 thou inch range)and we will walk you through checking your valve clearances.
What do you have for wrenches?You will need metric wrenches,10mm-17mm......

i dont have a compression tester yet. i heard you can rent them at discount, or auto zone? also, lets say the compression is fine....i still wanna clean her up inside. i dont have feeler guages yet either.

ok, auto zone will rent me a compression tester. should i put the top of the motor back on while doing the compression test? also, when i do the compression test i know i have to have the throttle wide open, but what else?

Make sure that your battery is fully charged, and no those feeler gauges are too big. You need the set that usually goes down to 0.0015" thickness. If that set only goes down to 0.010" it's no good for checking valve clearances.

ok with the throttle open #4 jumps up to 90 on the first reading, then after that it only goes up to 45. lemme check the rest.....

the compression tester has a button on the side of it to release pressure from the guage. when turned the bike over the meter would go up to 45-50 and then immediatly drop without pressing the button on the side of the compression meter. it would go up to 50 them down to 0, then up to 50, then down to 0. what does this mean? its not holding the compression?

could i have a valve hanging open?
