pg 6-19 is for sprocket to cam installation... I'm sure you followed to the T right? lol!

Ah I see now but see the difference in the tooth counting... It's one up on the exhaust arrow deck tooth alignment then 44 over to the other deck arrow pin... The KZ900 is different where one up but 28 to the intake dimple, not decking.

Same time as depicted in this image, @ TDC your intake/exhaust sprockets should match this exactly!

If not, you sure you installed the sprockets correctly?

I will check on it this evening and post back tonight. I didn't put new sprockets on, just put in different cams. was I not following the right instructions? I don't get the lol...

Uh, 9am, what cams did you put in for the lobe centers may be different then stock set up & it wont count up or lobe alignment correctly to head decking!

In other words, you may need adjustable cam sprockets and thus... CAM Degreeing for Zombies! :laugh:

WOAH, thanks for the concern! not to worry. One of the cool things about the J bikes is a wider variety of stock cams to choose from. I had an LTD which had "cruiser" cams in it, I wanted a bit more top end so I got some standard J cams from Larry C a few months back. Nice guy, he gave them to me. They have the same sprockets as my old ones so they pop right in.

A few months back you might remember me asking about your cam degreeing for...zombies...lol, that was because I wasn't sure what cam degreeing was. I don't have to degree anything because they are stock cams. I got my helicoils in today, so I am going to practice a couple times on piece of scrap aluminum, and put my cams in for good. I will post many pics and whatnot when I get this done.

BTW, should I use loctite on helicoils?

AVATAR = final fantasy (basically any one, including the movie) + braveheart + that rodriguez chick in the same character she always plays (tank top and man pants and aviators) and a host of played-out cliches + the least imaginative alien species and culture ever. it was really bad, and not worth the extra money they charge for the glasses.

I'm not all that fond of bumping, but I am going to helicoil tonight for sure, and just want to know if I should loctite or not in the helicoil repaired thread. I figure it might keep the coil from stripping out, but at the same time it may actually end up stripping it out if I need to remove the bolt.

Whoa are you kidding me for I can't even remember these days if I changed my skivies... :blush: :laugh:

I helicoiled my stripped threads, and it wasn't bad at all. The reliefs in the cam cap holes helped keep the tap straight so it was no problem, both holes done in about 10 minutes! Now I just need to track down somebody to swap shims with me so I don't have to buy them...I will post pics of my nice sexy green paint soon.

What shims do you have and what do you need? I might be able to help.

I got some shims in the mail that might just be the ticket, Mr. Boyd is a nice helpful new member. Now, if women weren't so damn needy I could have been posting some pics of my nice green gas tank and side covers, and shined up some aluminum bits tonight while I wait for another day in the -5*C range so I can paint...it's been far too cold to paint lately.

I almost feel like I a running out of time here! Xmas holidays totally took me away from my bike, and now it's January, and I am still working on the motor! I have electrical, bearings, painting, rearsets...tons of stuff to still accomplish. I guess the Canadian winter is on my side in that way.
