Most likely through the pilot air passage. Unlikely they got forced down the needle jet. Bad things happen when Mr. Detonation comes calling.... ;)

All the aluminum crap was not burnt into the jets/needles, more like aluminum paste or fine dust... :pinch:

A little spray of simple Green, wiped off cleanly, no pitting, gouging, scratches so I got lucky on that...

Completely disassembled all 4 carbs, cleaned, blown out etc... all seem good to go... Most likely once the old girls back running I'll have to remove the rack and go through them again to catch any other blown through crap... :( Maybe the KZ Gods will be on OMR's side... Naw.......

hey dave you might want to invest in the right sized ball hone those blade hones wont give a proper angle on the cross hatch unless you have your speed just right the cross hatch patern should be between 45 and 60 degrees in order to retain and shed oil properly. i hate to say it but yours kind of look like fine screw threads.

@ Marky- For the time being, using as is broken fins and all... Game plan is go with what I have OEM 1015cc with new rings at minimal costs... Save some money and send the old 903 cylinder to Joe Hopper for new sleeves, bore/hone for their 1075cc kit...

@ Timmy- Hey old fart long time no hear.... :) Yeah, Larry pinged me on that as well...  70mm Flex Hone is the next purchase at pay-day...

OMR

when its time for the 1075, why not just get another 1015 and have it bored, rather than resleeving a 903 ?

Bingo :P It sure seems the less expensive route to 1075cc

Check locally for the hone. Here's a link to a place where I buy my stuff.

Pre/Post Hone and TDC Tool (adjustable length)...

That cylinder picture, pre-honing, shows a lot of ring wear at the top. I've seen this a lot on motors with higher compression, this looks like Detonation. I'd be sure to use a comp ratio for the F-d up gas we have these days.
The picture of the cylinder, after honing is no good. There is no cross hatch pattern, and with the amount of metal removed the piston to cylinder wall clearance would be in excess of the limits.
I wouldn't worry about re-ringing that one, and concentrate on getting a set going with a fresh bore/ pistons, or another that is in good shape and just needs de=glazing and rings.

I freaking hate you guys....

As Larry knows, I have been debating this 1015 vs 1075 build, trying to think out best way to go due to still have to build out the 78KZ1000... Was hoping to use the 903 cylinder (0 broken fins) for my baby and keep the 1015 chipped fins for the stock build...

All in all you guys suck in spending my $$$....

Great time to try & quit smoking...
