Finally got the time to start posting the engine build. The engine has been built for a couple months now and I have put about 600 Miles on it. This thing is absolutely unbelievable in the way it runs. :woohoo: I think that this engine was worked on once before and some major stupidities have been committed during the work the previous owner did on it. i have a lot of pictures so hang on to your hats. This will take a few days to post.

Starting with the general engine disassembly. Here is a view into the cylinders after the head was taken off. This engine had about 35,000 miles on it and I run Lucas fuel treatment in every tank full. Also once every two weeks I remove the plugs when the engine is hot and spray "Mopar, combustion chamber cleaner" into the cylinders, and reinstall the plugs. The next day or when ever I than take it for a short brisk ride.

This is what the inside of the combustion chamber looked like after I whipped it with a dry shop rag.

This is the piston crown after just a wipe. It is hard to believe that there is 35K on that piston. This thing burned a quart of oil every 400Mi.

This is what the stock cams looked like after 35K Mi. I run Wall-Mart "Super-Tech" 5W-30 Synthetic with one bottle of "Ryslone" added to every 5 quarts of oil. I buy the oil in the 5 Gallon bottles. I can not see or measure ANY ware at all on the lobes.

They all look and measure out the same. The last time I changed the oil was 10,000 miles ago.

Here is the kicker though; When I pulled off the cylinders, the oil passages to the top end were virtually completely blocked off. The previous mechanic did not bother to put the proper base gasket, and just put on some gasket sealer. This in turn squeezed into the oil passages and clogged them up. I am surprised that any oil got into the top end at all. Thank god for good oil.

This type of stuff was actually in the passages. As can bee seen the gasket material was actually squeezed into the hole.

Here is the other side. Some mechanics are real pigs, and should have their fingers broken, so they can't ever touch another bike again. Needless to say, it was very easy to remove the old gasket.
