They are the little Keihin 32CVs. I have every jet under the sun for Mikuni but nothing for Kaihin's. I jetted the mains with Mikuni jets and the mid to top end is good.

I figured that if Kawasaki can manufacture a sleeve that looks like this, than mine is 1000x better and safer. If you will notice the red line on the sleeve in the picture, it is a crack. No wonder with sharp corners.

If this is a crack how will the notches help?

Kawasaki put those in there to clear the crank. If anyone there would have half a brain they would have known that the corner will be a stress point. I am not a school trained engineer, but even I know that much.

Now comes the real fun part, the top of the engine. Now that it looks half decent, let's make it go like it looks.

Trying to get how your fixing the crack just by releaving the strssed area. Pardon my question.

As it seems the crack extends below the notch by your red line on the picture.

OK, now I get your question. The notch is there from the factory, the crack developed in the engine due to the sharp corner in the notch. This particular cylinder is now only a paperweight. It is good for noting els. Actually that is a euphemistic lye. It is actually a pen and pencil holder on my desk. ;)

Well- I discovered a problem. Somehow my new cylinders, that I just got bored by Pitstop performance, I bent the lower skirt of one of the outside cylinders. I attempted to straighten it out, knowing very well that it will most likely not work. After I succeeded making the lower lip round again, I checked it very carefully to look for what I already knew I was going to find, a crack about 3/16 of an inch long. Well, I was not going to install a new sleeve and have it re-bored, nor was I going to leave it there to continue creeping up the sleeve. Here is my solution.

The crack in this cylinder was a vertical 3/16" long crack which was at the center of what is now the notch. The crack was totally ground away, leaving a round contour as to not promote any other cracking.

Thanks for the details on the cylinder front... Bike looks nice. Makes me miss my faring matching the paint, Still debating to match the color and paint the stock stripes or make the silver the base coat and paint the entire thing again...
Your color scheme could have been factory, it looks great.

The scheme was based on the GPz/ELR pattern. The base color is a Nissan Pearl Red. I thought this would be appropriate since the original GPz fuel injection was a (Datsun) Nissan system. The Dark stripe is a very dark Maroon which is going to be my base color on my KZ1300 (1400). The silver is a Titanium color with a touch of red added to blend it to the two. The base was blended by PPG but the other two colors are my blend. The engine top end will somewhat match the silver stripe once I put it on.

Well- I just finished building a new custom Fuel injection wire harness. I designed it to take the Fiat / Alfa main relay, since the Kawasaki relay is available in very low quantity and is quite expensive. I believe that these relays I am using is used by Audi and VW.

Well-Don't ask why it took me this long, but I just finished Ceramic coting my piston crowns and Molly coating the skirts. I guess now I have no excuse, why not to tear the engine apart and install everything I have for it. The worst part of all of this is that the bike is running so great now. Much better than it has ever run before. I guess that is no excuse though. I just have to tell myself that it will run even better after I am finished with it. :woohoo:
