Later on today i will explain this cylinder modification, to facilitate installing the pistons without ring compressors. This mod works great with any piston that uses wrist pin buttons and not clips.

Personally, I vary the thickness of the coating. I make it thicker on the front and back, in comparison to the sides. I also make it thicker at the bottom than the top. Also the Ceramic coating must be applied first, than the Molly.

Nice domes PLUMMEN. New or used they are good candidates for coating. If they are used they must first be boiled in solvent and than again in watter before coating. If you notice the domes on my pistons, they are specifically cut for the "Bathtub" combustion chambers as found on the 83-85 GPz1100. I have also decided to modify the title of this thread since that is what this bike now is.

Since I have seen the post about Jeff at Z1 and It made me remember that I bought a conversion set from him to convert this bike to a 530 chain from a 630. I wanted to change the gear ratio a bit more toward the top end, and my chain is a solid roller chain which is going ban anyways so I decided to do the change. I will do that in the spring. Thanks to Jeff who was so helpful in finding the right parts and ordering the parts which he did not normally carry in stock. Jeff's Knowledge, willingness to help, and fantastic prices just have no equal.

Whose domes are those? I notice they are for wrist pin clips. I would discard the clips and use buttons instead.

That is the first time that I have seen Wiseco pistons that are not relieved around the wrist pins. That is the main reason I went to MTC. Because i could use buttons (plus they were the only ons who were willing to make GPz domes with 17mm wrist pins and a custom diameter all for a very reasonable price.)

I took the opportunity this weekend to install a new clutch and new HD clutch springs. The old clutch slipped like crazy after the extra HP was added. I also installed a new clutch cover which I "Black Chromed" with my GunKote method. I also took the opportunity to remove the stator cover and clean it out and also Black Chromed it last night. Plan on putting it back on today.

I also made up a conversion kit to go from a 630 chain to a 530. I will be changing the final ratio to 2.22:1. This will give me 74Mph at 4k rpm vice the 2.73:1 stock ratio which gives 60Mph at 4K rpm. This will also give me a potential 165Mph at red line in stead of the 134Mph now available at red line. This is a 18t front and 40t 530 rear sprockets.
