Hi all,
I've got some brake rotors and a swingarm that came frome a swap met, was told they're KZ1000 parts. I'm not sure they are. Not much spent, (and of course they came with the standard swap meet guarantee). Photos attached. Swingarm doesn't appear to have any markings or stamps on it and the chain guard mounts seem different. Rotors have date markings shown. Any help is appreciated.
edit: there are stamped numbers on the rotors that don't show in these photos, I'll take another photo tomorrow.

What's up KZR forum?
I am Bryan, I live in Divide Colorado, at 9,500ft elevation. It's cold up here, so I like to be in my heated shop in the winter, working on stuff.
My first bike was a 1980 KZ750 LTD H1, I bought it in 1988. I rode that bike everywhere for about 4 years, it was my daily, and only mode of transportation in El Paso Texas.
Just recently picked up a 1980 KZ750 just like mine. I'm going CAFE RACER with it though. So now I'm on KZR forums, cuz I know there is a TON of expertise and experience here, hopefully you all can help me out here and there, and become my new best friends.
I do almost all my own work, and rarely farm stuff out. I have replaced the entire front end with a 1996 Honda CBR600F3 front end, to include controls, used the All Balls Racing conversion kit for the bearings/stem.
I have the rear swingarm from the same Honda, already mounted, working on completion of fabbing a 17mm diameter swingarm bolt.
There are some other considerations I am already having to ponder, but not sure how to get there yet. Still brainstorming.
The following are hurdles I already foresee;
1. Rearset issue. Not using KZ pegs, looking into Universal foot peg set from Tarozzi.
2. Offset sprocket issue. Looking into various Suzuki offset sprockets for the front, which I believe have the same 13 spline pattern.
3. Wiring main harness, controls. This is mostly just figuring and planning, then executing. Will trim out all unneeded wires from the harness.
4. Frame Issues. Once I get the rearset issue figured out, then will remove motor, and begin the work on the frame. This will be welding anchors where needed for the rearsets, grinding off old frame mount tabs and creating new ones as needed, frame gussets to be installed to handle the Honda monoshock, and it's linkage. Will paint frame when all welding done.
5. Suspension. Probably will just need a fork rebuild, although I have no leaks now. Have the old CBR600 frame, so will study that for geometry.
6. Fuel delivery. For now have rebuilt the OEM carbs, and will run with those, but seriously considering Lectron carb upgrade, which, right now, is $1850 for all four C's! That would be the most expensive part of this build I believe.
7. Exhaust issue. The OEM 4 into 2 must go. Looking at Delkevic thinking just the Delkevic 4 into 1 headers, then put my can on.
8. To Center Stand or NOT to Center Stand: Considering sparing the center stand, just for maintenance issues, but thinking it may have to go as that is where the linkage mount will likely go for the mono-shock.
9. Air Delivery. The KZ had it's OEM airbox installed, so not sure if this bike is gonna be finicky when changing to K&N filters on each carb. Sure that's all over the forum.
10. Seat choice. I have a really cheap "Amazon Special" seat, that just appeared in the shop one day, but that one looks better suited for a pit/mini bike. So looking at a beefier seat, more cushion, but still has the cafe racer look. I plan to ride the living S*!@ outta of this bike, so the seat has gotta be good. We do a lot of twisting mountain riding up here, a lot.
So far, so smooth. We'll see how things progress.
Just got accepted into this forum today, so will be pouring through the forum over the next several days. Any help or criticism you have is appreciated and welcomed. Thanks ya'll!
Peace
Bryan

Installing the VM29's with a larger bowls, caused a little interference with my alternator. So I am spacing out about .125" and reworked the excitation wire connector. Sorry no pics of the fix....oops
Then I need to measure how much I needed to cut off the throttle cables and order the new cable ends and brass barrel end.
Rework the KZ900 badges by removing the damage to the edges of the letters, reapaint, and cleared. Don't have pictures of the before or the cleared.
Last items, polishing up and sealing the swing arm and modify the chain guide block to fit the customer application.

Hi Andy,
Thank you very much for the link, was helpful i heard you could use zxr parts straight on without to much stress, i was also thinking suzuki bandit i fitted that to my kawasaki but that was a 1978 kz1000 i'm wondering if the csr is slightly different dimensionally as in gap between the frame and swinging arm, i'd also weld in fuel tank lugs on and fit a older style tank for looks i think all food for thought do you have a Z ? i also have a 1978 suzuki gs1000 i restored regards Andy

Time warp to late October 2024. Finished installing the center stand and swing arm with new Progressive shock absorbers. Put the old rear tire (still mounted onto the wheel) so I could have some weight n the rear and keep the front in the air while I assembled the forks.
Got a bit stalled at this point as I decided to place the engine (lower assembly) in the frame before proceeding on the front end. Basically, took advantage of a friend's offer to help and installed in less than 30 minutes from the engine stand to the frame. NO dings on the powder!!

Still moving forward, I have removed the gold anodising from the front disc centres and painted with "high temp" black. Wheels are now fully assembled ready for new shoes on Saturday (Pirelli Diablo Rosso's) will still need to remove the back wheel again when the motor is done (schoolboy error, I forgot to measure how much I need to remove from the sprocket carrier to align to chain before disassembly)
I am going to make adjustable dog-bones with rose joints for the back end, for the rose joints to function correctly I need to isolate the needle rollers in the swingarm and linkage. There are several ways to accomplish this but I have chosen to make some isolators out of aluminium (donated by the scrap ZX9R stem I had
) with stainless washers inserted. Once bolted up this will lock the OE bearings and the movement will be in the rose joints - bit by bit it's coming together

The Moriwaki is almost done. Total weight without fuel is 144kg. The frame weights 10 kg but the swingarm is heavy at 5kgs.
I sold the green 650 and I want to have at least one green bike so I painted it green instead of the Yellow/blue Moriwaki colors.
Now I’m waiting for warmer weather so I can start riding and tuning 🙂

I went thru a bin that has most of the parts for this bike, found a few good bits but was missing some stuff I need to improve the build over stock.
I had to buy a blade fuse holder and a Fiamm horn, I need that horn because they fit perfect up under the steering neck gussets (oil cooler) I also need to purchase a lower than stock handle bar, looking at a superbike type bar.
I also found all the rear wheel spacers so I can make drawings to fabricate them out of alloy (weight savings)
Not sure what to do about the foot pegs just yet. Will put the stock ones on the scale and see how heavy they are. No hills or wicked corners to burn up around here so may go to a similar design as my drag bike, but with a pivot option.
I found the rear wheel axle and swing arm pivot bolt, not sure if there is anything to do there. The rear brake arm rod may have to be put on a scale, not sure if there is potential weight savings there as well.
