Base gaskets are the worst but with the studs removed it's a lot easier. Since I always go with APE studs they're out of the way anyway....

Any spots left come right off in the blasting cabinet.

I was under the impression they where bead blasting it pre head work no... Well if they painted it I'd be pissed as well...

Joe, don't forget and don't be shy with the amounts, engine/lifter lube on those cams, under the cam bearing/caps, valve buckets/shims etc.... ;)

fins broke.....not sure when. its not painted...sand blasted....ill go over it with a bead blast. looks shitty i know. he wanted $60 to paint it...i said no. and he wanted $70 for fin repair....i said no again. i had allready spent $419. that was enough for me on the head.

i dont remember the fins being damaged when it went out, but i may be wrong. he called me to tell me they were broken when he recieved it....oh wait....called me? they dont have phone customer service. yeah, i dont think ill send him anymore parts. and he offered to paint it, but f that.

Hate to say it, but that is not glass bead!
That is an aggressive media. Looks like aluminum oxide or plain old silica sand!
I glass bead stuff all the time.
