An experienced machinest recommended using sharp wood chisels to scrape the gaskets off. Make sure to keep the chisel perfectly flat or you'll gouge the machined surfaces. This weekend I was playing with plastics and glass

well its here. i have a question.....the cam towers on one side were fastened flush and the other side was not. is this a problem?

this was pit stops reply as to why the cam towers were uneven,......You do not want to bolt the cams down tight in the head, you will bend valves.
All the cam tower bolts are tightened to where they just contact the tower.
The cams should sit almost all the way down on the left side of the head.
This is the side of the camshaft that has the thrust surfaces.
The cam and tower is lifted up on the right side of the head, because each of the cam lobes is in contact with a cam follower.
What you are seeing is the correct way to package for shipping.

lol, i called him and he explained why the cam towers were lose. pit stop has very poor costomer service over the phone...if any. emails are answered promtly though.

Please don't tell me someone bolted cams even half way down in to a head! A gamble, are they alingned? in time? Sync?
Do you know how easy valves can tweek, bend? .001 of an inch and you loose your compression!
My opinion! Or did I miss something??:S
