that reproduction spiral backed manual is hands down better than the old shop ones...when your on the page you want...who cares what pages are next to it...and when you wanna work on the bike...the manual lays flat...no blurry old school pics and no faded out of focus print + old errors in info have been corrected....although a factory manual is mandatory and a better flowing read for sure...this manual has every added section over the yrs these 1000 changed as they were produced....if ,like me,you know that more models of kz1000 that will need homes one day...this is a single purchase covering all yrs of production and updates and added chapters...unless the factory manual you previously purchased is a last yr of kz1000 production manual...you are limited in your diagrams and schematics....both are good in their own way...but that NZ product is top notch in materials and print quality..plus it lays flat on the page you are working on...why you have a beef with it is beyond me....
it is a great product...click the pic to see 2010 ink and clear resolution of diagrams imo,

would be nice to have a manual with a picture of the model and year of the motorcycle that you actually own, on the cover...and nothing else inside that does not pertain to your scoot...that's all... no beef really, I guess this comes from working on Air Force aircraft that I worked on, at that time we had a C-5A and a C-141B models....call me spoiled:P

i agree on the individual manual concept...even the shop ones after the real early yrs have added sections or show an early Z-1 photo and explaination for later stuff that was a little different than that pic.....

on a side note i get new condition cardboard file boxes...the nicer ones with heavier duty lids /handles and areas for labeling contents.......they toss em all week long so i got 15-20.....

i can list what bike...what yr...what model number...A-1...A3 ect..ect....

then when i have a part in my hand that is gonna shelve for a while...pop into the right labeled box it goes....if i kick it all of a sudden....my gal can at least pool parts with the right bike for a fire sale ect...

I even printed some 6x6 pics on a scanner/printer scanner of the exact bike....and will clear tape em to the box front ....along with the home depot shelves..great cheap product BTW (see pic of the tall deep -cheap shelfs)...the shop extras will be cleaned up and organized...plus the color pics will dress up the shelf and make it fun....pics when i get the boxes up soon

I wish I was half as organized as you...I have parts in unlabeled boxes strewn throughout my attic/basement/garage and my outbuilding, of course I root through every box in each location, and the last area of search may reveal the item I was searching for....

Maybe so, but my good old factory manuals have something those nice new ones don't have -- my greasy damn fingerprints obscuring the text.
