we are just rambling about the "iron board" seats....i had a question that no one cared to answer. i am curious as to what kinda cash a redone stock kz1000 brings in compared to a aftermarket,(mono shock, diff forks, diff swing arm, diff seat, and bars, tires)kz1000?So, I'm confused. What was the question again?

Aftermarket Kz's don't sell well. If you want to get money out of it, keep it as stock as possible. Then you'll only lose half.

Are you refering to the question about the bottom end? Pretty sure that was answered in the original thread when Larry said "From what I'm seeing the whole motor should be gone through". Yes, tear it all down, measure it all per the manual, verify that everything is in good working order, weld the crank if you plan on performance mods, and build it back up. I think everyone has agreed on that.

I still use my VM26 carbs on my 1075, but my head is not ported and I'm using stock cams. If you go with higher lift cams and porting you will probably want to look at some upgraded carbs, but they ain't cheap.
These are what seem to be the choice for new carbs (and the used carbs will cost roughly the same once rebuilt if you are looking at Mikuni 29's) www.dynoman.net/carb/keiCR.html

what are some options with aftermarket cams, and prices?

I don't remember the lift size, but I think anything over .365 or .380 requires removing material from the head. The .430+ or so cams require switching to shim under buckets and are probably a bit big for a street-able 1075 engine from what I've read.
