that manual would work, but clymer and haynes manuals are often treated as supplements to the original kawasaki factory service manual, like this:

cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/KZ1000-1000-Serv...ManualsQ5fLiterature

and how long till those parts are in at Z1? it would be a good idea to take everything apart and start ordering things as you go...that way you don't have a huge smack in the face on your credit card bill. Just take everything apart, get a feel for the bike, you will kind of start having a relationship with it...and begin by buying yourself the above mentioned tools, don't put the cart before the horse!

yes and no; there is no explicit "motor disassembly" chapter, but it does explain how to service the entire bike including all of the motor and non-motor parts that you will be working on. There are schematics and photos to help you too, and since it is a specific manual for your bike all of the pics and diagrams are exactly the same as your bike, there is no guesswork. Like Plummen said you don't really need a manual for disassembly, just take it apart "piece by piece" in the words of Slayer...make sure you have lots of yogurt containers to keep things organized, and label any electrical things you disconnect with masking tape, you will thank me later.

good afternoon fellas. i have ordered my manual, but it wont be here for a couple weeks . i believe its comming from new zealand. anyway i figured since the wife was home today i could get started on getting this thing closer to splitting the cases.
i have been labeling every bolt in zip lock bags for reassebly. if you look at my sprocket nut, you can see where the last guy uses a chisel to break, or tighten the nut. that pisses me off. just another item on the shopping list.

i would like to take apart a few more things, but im not sure where to start. throw out a few recomendations would ya? thanks for being here...Joe
