Since my bike is my primary summer vehicle, I get 'almost' killed at least a few times a year.

already this year I came about a foot from somone in the opposite lane who thought I didn't exist and it was appropriate to pass a long line of cars.

Last year, someone locked their brakes in front of me, and someone else passed within a couple of inches of my left peg as they whizzed by as I was taking a right turn.

I've read Shoe's posts and know that he's no amateur, but even he could not avoid the idiocy of a driver who 'could not see' a motorcyle.

Share your accident stories, every one of them reminds me of how to treat cars: "They Dont See You."

Speedy recovery Shoe!!! Post pictures of your rebuild (and your bike rebuild) when you get back on your busted hoof!

I hate to hear of a rider going down, even more so when it´s not his (or her) own fault.

Get well soon Dave, best wishes.

A mutual acquaintance that lives closer to Dave and knows his wife personally just got the update from her on Dave:

"Today's report on shoe is that he is resting comfortably and responding to pain management. He is experiencing some kidney problems because of the trauma from the accident, but they are addressing that at this time. He is not quite out of the woods yet."

Like a lot of us Dave is not in the "springtime" of his years so this has to be hard on him, lets all pray for the best!

Really hate to hear about things like this. I only know Dave through his posts here and on totheton.com, but he always came across as a great guy. Hope he gets better, and give him our best if you see him.

Scary to hear this. Happens so suddenly. A fraction of a second is all it takes. Good to hear he is resting and sure hope he makes it out of the woods.
