I re installed some parts to work on wiring, until I get the standard KZ1000 pieces in.

Took it out for a real shakedown. Clutch adjustment is good, grabbed well.

Carbs took a couple miles to find thier groove, but the slides seem to be moving predictably after an initial idle surge.

Seems to run best with the petcock on prime, I'll have to go through it or replace it.

It doesn't seem to care for the open pipes in the higher rpms, it produced a bit of a choppy rev above 8000.
The suspension is smooth and soaks up large bumps and potholes. The rear shocks are squatting at thier lowest now.
Don't think I would want it any lower.

The wiring in the fairing is pretty ratty and only one running light came on. I plan on new lights , so I'll wait for them, to sort out the wiring.

The fairing won't work with the new handlebars, so this is probably the last time it will be on the bike.

New bars on and test fitting seat. Looks like it's going to be a nice riding postion.

Cool looking bike. Since you're going for the clean look, probably the crashbars should go. I wouldn't recommend running it on an open exhaust for too long.
This is my build:

There are many more like it, but this one is mine... news to come!

When you remove the crash bar you loose the horn mount so you have to re engineer the mount. I was going to put LED turn signals on mine but it has that fancy flasher. Does anyone know how it reacts to LEDs?
Your bike is coming along nicely, good job!

Yeah, they likely won't fit with the new pipe. The utilitarian side of me really likes the crash bars, though.

This one has a frame mount horn. I had actually thought about extra driving lights being mounted on the crash bar.

You need a current/load independently flasher relay

Lookin good there Jimbo! Miami Ed, and that other guy are two great examples of converting ponches old sled! Keep putting lipstick on that pig, she will clean up nicely. :woohoo:

I like the engine parts in the dishwasher. I don't have one, but wish I did.. it would see all kinds of engine and transmission parts. :-)

Ha, I don't think the dishes would agree with the greasy engine parts.
