This reminds me of the kid who brought me the old Gibson...
He'd tried to install a Floyd Rose and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work right...
He'd started by drilling holes through the body... by hand... badly.
Then came the screwdriver and hammer.
By the time he gave up and brought me the guitar, there wasn't much I could do for it.

Wow! If you guys don't like it fine, but name calling is not necessary. Everyone has a vision of what they want.
I too liked the way the bike the way it was but would never put someone down.
I wish you luck on the build and hope it turns out to be what you envision. My only suggestion is that you don't do anything you can't reverse should you change your mind later.

Wow guys. I really appreciate all the kind words and constructive feedback. It's good to know that there are some grown-up and reflective people in this forum.
I guess people would react in different ways to this sort of response. Some people would probably just say:
But since I am the gentle and caring guy, I simple get my feelings hurt from you talking down to me
actually I should have stopped the post here, which would have made me appear as a better person
Way to disencourage somebody!! Is there no respect for other peoples visions and dreams? For me motorcycling is about creating (or buying a brand new one, for the people who like to do that) the bike of your dreams. For me I enjoy knowing that I have turned every single screw and bolt on it and made it like i envision it. Then I go out riding it and enjoy myself. I don't care about the $$$ i can get of selling that bike, that some of you obviously do.
Just for the record: I do respect people who want to keep bikes (and cars for that matter) as original as possible and put them in their garage and go out looking at them whenever they have time. But I respect people more that dare to be original themselves and chase after their dreams, and then go ride the shit out of their creation
Anyway I will try to keep posting if there is any interest at all for this, otherwise I will save up that time to go out ride on my bike when I finish her up.

This is the reason I hated being on the FJForum (FJ1200 Yamaha) because of the insults of other peoples opinion/s. I stayed with this forum because I saw a different type of people who respected different opinions, and rarely insulted anyone.
I might not agree with this project but I respect your decision, I for one would like to see where you go from here. GO FOR it.
FYI, I personally always hated my standard Z1R handling, brakes and eventually its power. So now it eventually became the bike you see in the picture, the only difference is I kept all my original parts.

Notice in the article below the Eddie Lawson Replica was a special bike and few were made. They are quite scarce, especially in stock condition. The article was written in April, 2008, and even back then, 5 1/2 years ago, good examples of the model brought $15,000. I believe the idea that chopping up this bike is a mistake stems from the simple fact that this is a very desirable limited production model and there are tons of other bikes which are not particularly rare that would work just as well, perhaps better, for yet another cafe project. It's sort of like watching some fool cut up an original 1957 fuel injected Corvette to make a dune buggy. But it's his bike and his money being flushed down the toilet so the only real impact is to deprive someone else the opportunity to own and appreciate a rare bike. On the other hand, the value of every other ELR just went up, so perhaps their owners are glad to see this happen. Ed

I would have sold that one, kept a bundle of cash, and cut up a cop bike.

It's your bike dude, do what you want with it. "F" the naysayers. One thing is certain, your bike will definitely be one of a kind. The parts you're taking off are worth big $$ to all the egg heads that are doing the crying / name calling. Put those parts on Ebay and let 'em fight it out over them.
