'83 KZ1000-R2 going Cafe
29 Nov 2013 14:22
I've been working on my '83 KZ1000-R2 doing a cafe racer build. This is my first build ever so things are moving along slowly, but I have a vision ![:) :)](/media/kunena/emoticons/8.png)
Thought I'd post some shots of what's going on with the project, so I can get some feedback and maybe give somebody some ideas.
This is the original bike
The first stages of conversion
Working on a new seat
Shaping the new seat
Voila! A new seat is born. Fiberglass and carbon
Engine removed, working on the frame and adapting the seat etc
Electronics tray and rear square (no loop
)
That's all for now. I will keep posting as things go along.

Stop!
I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

This does remind me of a demotivator picture from a few years ago about cafe racers. But I can't find it right now.

All I can say is my bike was a bastard child when I got it. 78 A2A frame with a 80 mark II engine and a 19?? LTD front end with a 1000 B rear brake setup.
I didn't fuk up a great bike when I did my mod project.

Ahh, it's his bike, let him do what he wants with it. The beauty of it he can Ebay all the stock parts to finance his build.
