Thank you kickstand, that dang leon and his pictures, I'm in the shop making clamps right now after having the tubes almost done. Oh well:unsure:
After measuring the fork spacing at 210mm and measuring the gauge mounting width at 210 its like kawasaki intended someone to do this.:woohoo:

Haaaaaaa! Brilliant! Yeah, "fairing mount" is the issue I'm running into with my Z1R and my ELR clone also.
But I'm a fast study.

Here's the clamps, started to make the ears and decided I should get the tree done first so I started it tonight.

south bend 9 or 10 in lathe... every now and then you can find a decent deal that includes tooling, all of that crap will end up costing you. or if you want to try out a smithy they come up for sale now and then-

www.smithy.com/index_inside.php?id=104

Then you will have a mill and a lathe, i dont think the mill is very ridgid but might be great for a garage machinist.. good luck

I second the suggestion of a South Bend. Good deals can be had if you watch Craigslist. Lots of guys on the Practical Machinist forum labor to keep old SB's making chips. Remind you of another forum you're familiar with?

Generally the 9 or 10" refers to the swing diameter, or the largest diameter of stock that can be turned on a given lathe.
