Got the steering stem nut made and put on, now I can safely roll it around. Didn't get as much turning radius as I had hoped but I't will work. Started mocking up the faring and gauges and to my delight it's not going to be that big of deal. The forks are wider and bigger so I'll have to make new holders over the forks and with the billet tree I'm making it should be fine. Gotta order some more material. Oh well, I'm going to nickname this thing a bank, I've put more money in it than I have the bank.

sounds like you are making some good progress there les.
i would be interested in how you solve the fairing mounting issue.i am working on a frontend conversion for my 1980 z1r and will have to build custom bracketry for my fairing.
here is a picture of some nice ones from japan.

i have a buddy that can laser cut all the pieces out of alu sheet and then just screw it all together it looks like.ther would be some machine work but it looks like it could all be cut out and drilled and tapped.

I have access to and run a cnc, going to do just such a thing but that is just NICE. I allready have the design done but looks like I'm going to have to step it up a notch.

I'm was going with basically the same design as factory, a tube that slips over the forks with outriggers welded on that hold all the gauges, faring, turn signals and headlight. The top tree is going to be billet and the back bolts on the gauges mount right to it. Doing all the faring mounts in billet aluminum cnc'd. I know some of it will be trial and error due the added rake and keeping the faring at the angle I want but I have bigger hurtles at work desinging and building welding and assembly fixturing. BUT, after seeing the clamping system on that setup I may venture in that direction. My experience has shown me that welding and anodizing don't go good together.
As for building you a set Leon, I don't have a problem with that at all. Kind of the reason with this build is to advertise the shop. Let me get this set debugged and see what you think.
I also found a powder coater local that can do the frame. That just makes life a little easier.

So I just go out to the garage and am looking at the gauge cluster on the Z1-R to see exactly what you were up against.

First thing I notice is the little mounting block on the lower right that holds the fairing, trim strip and plexi in place is long gone.

Keerraapp.

BTW, gorgeous build, looks to be a very fine ride.
