That's simple enough 530, 630.
I'm doing a project with a new 530 countershaft.
I'm using a ZX10 rear wheel with 525? Factory rear sprocket.
What's the differance from 530 to 525?
Thanks

Andy's got it. The first digit is length in 1/8s of an inch. Second two numbers is sprocket width in 1/8's also. 530 = 5/8" long x 3/8" wide. 630 = 6/8" or 3/4" long x 3/8" wide.
Now for the pop quiz what does 525 chain equal?
Edit, I'll answer my own question since z1kzonly asked. 525 is 5/8" by 5/16" wide. It's an oddball size. Better to convert to 530, much more common.

When you get the chain and sprockets on there, run a narrow straight edge down the chain and let it extend back past the rear wheel.
Have the axle nut loose enough to allow the chain slack adjusters to move the wheel.
Get the chain running straight.
Place the straight edge on the chain & let it rest against the inside edge of the link plates.
Measure the gap from the straight edge to the tire, front & back. That will show you if your wheel and chain are running parallel.

Do not order your front sprocket until you mount the rear, get everything straight like Larry said, and measure the offset YOU need for YOUR bike. Every bike/build is going to be slightly different and the offset of your bike may be different. The key is not to rely on what worked for someone else, but figuring out what's going to work for you. In my book, that's most of the fun!

I bought the 5/8 and ended up taking 1/8" off. It had a 1/8 shoulder on it so it was easy.
If you do this correctly, you shouldn't need more than a 5/8 off set. If you do, you screwed up somewhere along the way.... look it over again

well until my rear sprocket shows.... i took the width of my kz rear sprocket, i measured from the inside of my sprocket hub and tightened my top hub nut to where i had the width of the rear sprocket between the nut and the hub face. i put the straight edge outside even with the inside of the hub nut, and square with the tire sides. i took a measurement at the front sprocket and this is what i came up with.......
