morning guys....i am looking at offset front sprockets for my mod. i noticed some come with nose? what is nose, and do i need one?
i called the sprocket company. they said the sprocket i need will come with a nose, but i dont need to use it.
Larry did yours come with a nose? and did you use it if it did?

The nose is for an outboard bearing support like this
it replaces the stock procket cover and supports the end of the sprocket with an additional bearing. 5/8" offset is around the max you want to run without a bearing support, so you shouldn't need the plate I have. FWIW, I still have not ordered a front sprocket. It's not a critical part until I want the bike to move under its own power.

Joe, my offset is .920" or something like that. I have it written down with all the other measurements from my build in a little notebook. I used a line laser and set it up behind the bike on the centerline of the rear sprocket. Then I just measured from the stock counter sprocket to the laser with calipers. Easy as pie. The outboard bearing support I have was made by another member here named Irishwill. I think it was $110 or $120 shipped.......which was a steal.

The line laser "wraps" around the sprocket, so if I'm off one side or the other, the laser won't be centered on the sprocket teeth all the way around. But just to be sure, I made a mark on the swingarm near the pivot inline with the centerline of the chain run, just to be sure.
