most guys use modern rearsets like what u have. they just mount an alum plate to the stock holes then drill the plate to suite. in the 80's the racers would usualy mount the pegs at the bottom of the v formed in the frame. but it is more comfy to have them lower. :)
speeking of frame, are u doing any braceing ?
the new arm looks killer. have about some detailed pics to see how u did the mono . B)

Well the plan is to use 78 ltd peg mounts. I like the position for comfort and it will allow me more space for passenger pegs. The 04 gsxr1000 swingarm is not 100% complete yet. I need to add a spacer on the left side to take up the extra space. I was waiting on the chain to come in to make adjusments. Im using a 5/8 offset 15T 530 front sprocket and the gsxr rear has a 42T rear sprocket. This is not a touring bike, so i think i'll like the low end torque. No plans to add extra braces to the frame since I plan on using the stock motor anyway. The plan is to build a comfortable cruizer that will smoke a rear tire if needed.

things to do:
mabe thicker forks / front ? busa, 636 zx7? any ideas are welcome. looking for cool factor and ease of fitment.
cut down the seat pan (narrow) and make it like a zrx seat.
not using the 78 tail. makes it too long
jet hot coat the exhaust. ( may be looking for a turbo kit later )
led rear brake light with integrated turn sig.
might add risers and a 7/8 27" 5" pullback drag bar instead of clipon's. ( for both comfort and looks )

Sorry about the wiring mess, I just got through stripping everything out that wasnt needed to make the engine run and regulate the battery. ( Im thinking about using the lithium ion 8 cell battery pack but I dont know if it will be enough to start this engine ) the idea is to hide all wiring and battery under the seat pan.

that low gearing will give u lots of torque, but u may not like the gas milage. lol
u may need to mod the frame for chain clearance.
i used a zrx seat and put it right onto the kz pan. i did not mod the pan. i just cut some foam from under the front half of the zrx seat and placed it under the back half. the zrx seat steps up on the bottom at the back. the kz is flat all across the bottom. i then added a piece of material to the bottom of the zrx skin at its back half so it would be flat across the bottom. a zephyr seat may work as well.
any front end will work with about the same amount of work. u just press out the donor triple tree's stem and replace it with the KZ stem.
the zx9 upside down forks are the longest, but any will work. zrx conventional forks are popular.

Thanks for all the info on the seat Mark. the zephyr seat looks like a closer match than the zrx and probably priced better. ZRX parts are priced like gold. My ZX6r forks are probably going to stay for the time being. I just found out that a 05-06 636 front wheel will fit and I have one one the way via ebay. The stem looks close enough in length to fit with only a bearing change. Im thinking of using a cbr led tail light.

Ok, I was trying to keep the cost down a bit but I needed to buy a new front wheel anyway so I began looking and found out an 05 636 would fit so I have one comming from ebay. Then I thought sure would look nice with a set of matching forks, so now they are on the way. Now?, i have to buy new brakes ( thinking of going with r1's ) and a new top triple. What is the best way to get a triple with risers for a 7/8 bar.

These are the options I have looked at.
new 05-06 triples from hohey $235 www.hoheydesigns.com
z1000 top triple $175 plus used risers $45
mount risers on 05-06 636 upper triple like Old Man Rock? prob 50 for the triple and 40 for the risers
Modified r1 triple www.zrxoa.org/photopost/showphoto.php/photo/1624/ppuser/11320
looking for any other ideas that i have missed. Any other upper 50mm triples fit 05 636 forks?

leg center spacing, and the centerline distance from the steering stem to the legs is also going to be a determining factor.so you may be better off making sure what ever you get fits the zx lower tree you already have.

if u are going with 636 wheel and forks keep everything the same . get all 636 parts (brakes triple)and save yourself a lot of headaches and extra mod costs.
just get the 636 triple and do what omr did. trust me on this if u want the cost to stay down use all the same bikes parts. u will get it up and running faster and cheaper. u can mod it again later if u want.just keep focused on getting it going.

mark1122, I like the way to think. Anyone can get it done throwing money at it.

Which direction does the stem press out of the lower triple for a 81 kz1000 ltd?
Anyone know the fork offset for an 05 636? the spacing is supposed to be 210mm

Oh yeah, I figured out my footpeg's.

I used the old peg mounting bosses drilled out 11/32 and tapped with 10mm 1.25 pitch. Then using 10mm 8.8 bolts threaded from the inside I could just screw on the zx9r pegs.
