Still an option. I might just do that when I go efi.
Post a picture and details of your setup if you dont mind. 2 things about the zrx guages I dont care for are the speedo is cable operated and the covers are plastic. I thought the 1100 where chrome steel. I would much rather have had real chrome steel than chrome plastic. I should have asked about that before I bought them for $100.
if u want to sell the zrx gauges, i would be interested.

I have read that you cant just clear coat it because it is porous and you can still get rust under the clear coat. Maybe there is a special automotive clear for doing this.
Anyone ever hear of flame coating with aluminum? or thermal coating? I saw a link where a guy sprayed a 2-3mm layer of molten aluminum on his tank and polished it to look like an aluminum tank. Just wondering if anyone had experience with this?

I have used this stuff before with good results painting to plastic and aluminum parts which are both difficult to get paint to stick: www.repaintsupply.com/pd-bulldog_adhesion_promoter.cfm It goes on clear, so it won't affect the bare metal effect that you want if decide to clear over it.
