Thanks Leon but I took a piece of 2.5 od automotive exhaust pipe and capped it and put a 1.5 hole in the end and it fit the end of the yoshi. It cut down the DB's to about half with nothing else done to it. I don't think I'll go deaf with it like it is now ( at least on the relay ).

I put another 20-30 miles on it like that riding with my wife this weekend. I like the way it is geared right now with a 42T sprocket but it wont fly for the 250 miles I am going to attempt on the relay. I am going to have look for a 40T. I think one off of a Hayabusa will fit and hopefully I wont have to cut the chain down.

Oh, and my gas mileage is pretty bad. 2.3 gallons for 60 miles. 26 mpg. I'm ready for EFI.

If feasible, it's sometimes easier to change the countershaft sprocket instead, to say, 1 tooth over stock. Provided that doesn't provide too tall gearing.

Good Fortune! :)

Well, the problem is my front sprocket it a 15T 5/8 offset. Not sure I can get a 14T. I might just have to suck it up and stay where Im at. I have a 15/42 right now that gives me 4430 rpm at 65mph and changing to a 40T will only drop the rpm by 200. Probably not worth it.

By the way, whats a normal cruise rpm at 65 on these bikes?

Leon, the whole front tips up and the shield and is has some shades built in like a fighter pilot.

Big helment though. Makes the rest of your body look small.

Ok, I've been trying on some new body parts... older gpz stuff. I am definitly going to find a way to make the tale fit. Not sure about the tank even though it has everyting I need for EFI. It crazy how much the shape and even the color changes the look of a bike. Oh, and the pipe is staying also, I just lucked out that it follows the lines of the bike.

Off subject a bit, but can you tell me what model(s) ZX seats will work? I've been looking, but is there a thread where you detailed doing the seat?

Thanks

I just took my 81 KZ pan and put the foam and cover from a 1100 zrx on it. It is still a work in progress. Sorry I did not document that part. There are several others on here that have done the same thing. The length and width are fine you will probably just have to cut some of the foam off the bottom so it follows the metal pan.

Ok, Im not touching this thing till the relay. I've logged about 150 miles on it so far. A little rough around the edges but I think she will make it from Panama City Beach back to Atlanta. KZJOE900 gave me a call tonight and he is just about ready to go. This should be fun.

I hope this is not a blown head gasket. Sounds like an exhaust leak but its comming from the center of the cylinder head and spitting oil. Im riding it anyway. at least for the relay.

No, Im still running a 35k 28 year old factory sealed top end. Well what used to be sealed anyway. I now have an excuse to use that ported head and make this project KZ12R with some new pistons. What gaskets and seals should I be running?
