a throttle housing off a 77/78 kz1000 would give you not only the throttle but the starter button and kill switch as well.should be easy to find.
not to mention it fits the ujm look.

UJM. I see, says the gasshopper. New problem.. my 05 636 forks n triple just came in and i noticed somthing I havent seen here or on the customfighters site. The steering stem on the 636 and the 81 kz1000 are the same length. Instead of pressing the stems out and swaping would it be possible to turn the larger 636 down on a lathe to accept the kz stem bearings? and re-thread the end? Look at the pic and tell me if this has been done before.

as long as there is sufficient wall thickness left you should be fine.you are going to lose one set of threads on the o.d. so that will have to be addressed as well.
i have been thinking about this myself.

Yeah, being done that way right now. I always try to think outside the box a little but usally end up not re inventing the wheel.

Anyone know what handlebars are closest to matching this BMW concept bike? Looks like some sort of fat bars with a low rise and just a small pull back. I've been looking all over the net trying to match this setup. I plan on taking a lot of styling cues from this concept bike.

jydog, those look like superbike bars. The bend might be a little more shallow on the BMW, but it's close. You might also try looking at some of BMW's production models to see if the same bars are used on an actual bike. If so, then you can buy the actual bars from them, but I bet they won't be cheap. I have some old dirtbike bars on my bike that are very similar.

Thanks testarossa, I'd be happy with the bars like the one you have on that bike. My parts are back and put the front end on without bearings to see what it would look like. Not sure about the gold forks now, dosent seem to go with the chrome rear. I'll swap out parts later to get it color cordinated. Either the back will have to go black with a matching zx10 wheel or the front will have to be swapped out with some silver forks. Sombody gave me some unidentified seat foam that I stuck on it too see how it looks and its kinda growing on me. It kinda has a little kick tail to it. Feel free to me some feedback or ideas.

What do you guys think about jet hot coating the headers? Anyone done it? How much would it cost? What headers do you think I have?

a quick spin in the lathe would have them legs polished right up.i think someone could probably do it without disassembling them if they was careful.
i like the polished swinger and rear wheel and would strive to polish the front end and wheel to complete the look.
