OMR

Oh I know, but some of those baffles cost more than my exhaust system did! I aint rich, so I need to regenerate some funds before I go buying them. I will try the diy baffle and if I like it I will stay with it, if not then I will eventually have enough money to get one of those real ones.

Hi 9am53, If you need a tool to measure, Harbor Freight has a digital calipers for $9.95. It's stainless steel and comes with two batteries. It reads metric or U.S. Bob

Yo, I have as usual not had the camera, but I got the motor back in. That felt really good, it looks like a bike again. I spent last night fixing MORE shotty wiring and contact cleaning. I really like the di-electric grease, I basically put it on the outsides of the connectors to keep moisture out, and I put it on the terminal screws on my ignition coils which I put on as well. The pics above regarding the install of the coils was a little different than mine since I have a J bike. OMR what is the reason for the connector "snouts" facing forward? I put them that way, but I am just curious. Also, there was a bracket for each coil that ended up making the coils face down and slightly below the frame rather than up and flush. I am heading back to finish up the last of the wiring and put the front sprocket and chain back on. Then if I have time I will hook up my new ss brake lines and maybe bleed my brakes. I am waiting for some LED turn signals and next month I will get a xenon headlight, so I will leave that business for then. Once I get the brakes and electrical done I will finish the paint and wait for a nice day to turn the bitch out, pimpin' aint easy!

"OMR what is the reason for the connector "snouts" facing forward?"... Clearance!

Due to their design, you have to use standoffs off the frame mount. If you put them reversed, won't fit under the tank.

Now others have modified the mounting ato accomplish but with new plug wires, more than long enough off the front side...

One other benefit in facing forward.... Plug cable insertion into the coil plugs are less prone to slide off during a ride...;)

cool, I was just worried that the coils required some sort of proper orientation to work right. I will take pics tonight, and pos tlater on.

I am back, we are in the middle of a nice end of winter storm...it's kinda nice to see some snow on the ground!

Anyways, like I said I got th motor bakc in:

Here is a shot of the coils, like I said they are oriented a little differently than OMR explained but I can't see them going in any other way.

Here is some more of the wiring cleanup I did:

The motion pro bag makes a convenient oiler bag!

Only problem is that the motion pro clutch cable is longer than I thought, I got the short one for my drag bars, but there is still going to have to be a bend in it (It's the big bend in the middle of the pic). Thank god for the little quarter fairing to hide it all!

Here is the motto of the garage:

Uhm... the coil mounting doesn't seem right there brother...

You have to use spacers and get the coils up in between the frame rails...

The way you have them is directly over the engine so these puppies are going to get real hot.

Then there's the fact the you'll be able to see the coils even with the tank on... No?

Just a thought there big guy...

OMR

Here, maybe this will help.....

I do have them facing the same way that you have them facing on your bike, maybe jsut the pic is confusing. Did you not use the brackets that originally held your coils?

I tried to get them on the way you have, but it didn't seem to work. I will try again though. I am thinking that maybe the mounting is different on our bikes, there didn't seem to be enough room to put them the way you have them.
