For those who don't know Checker = O'Rielly on the east side of the Continental Divide. Should be able to find it there as well.

Just a little update...
Received the new engine cases (Thanks Brian ), cleaned up, swapped out APE Heavy Duty Cylinder Studs....
Ordered the APE Main Bearing Stud kit, already have the seal kit and 18mm O-rings.
All in all, should have the lower end installed in the frame by next weekend...

Good to here that things are moving forward.
why did u need new cases ? i though it was just the head and sleeves that were fubared ?
I thought Jim had the bearing plates ?

And I thought you were planning to use parts from the 1000 engine (i.e. cases).

Thanks OMR for the paint tip, I have used lots of paint over the years.
I just used some this weekend. Great stuff, touchy in a cold cellar.
But then I did some baking! Like the 250 degree temp tolerence.
And for Brian in New York State, I have bought twice, also with excellent results!
I am waiting for a reply from him with more parts also.
Good Luck with your project!

Dave, I was looking at your pictures and saw your oil cooler in the background. Made me think you better flush that baby out. Might be full of poo from the meltdown.

maybe you should paint some black stitch marks on the cases were each hole was, on your last 2 sets of cases. then in a few years after a few more cases they will start to look like Gerry Cheevers mask .

Dave - can I ask what your cleaning process was for the cases?
Powerwasher and then manual polishing?
Soda blast and then manual polishing?
Paid someone else to media blast and then manual polishing?
Just sent that shit out and this is how it came back?
They look nice!

"Looks good. Did you wear your pink panties when you did that ?"...
Yeah, your girlfriends pink crotchless panties... What about it?... :woohoo:
Yup testa, will be flushing the cooler out no doubt. Possibly replacing pending how much crap I witness during the flushing... Piece of mind for $120, yeah buy a new cooler most likely...
Believe it or not, cases where cleaned the same as I did the last build.
1) Engine cleaner, scrub a tad with a bristle brush, let soak then rinse off with water.
2) For tough areas, Nylon wire brush on a drill, softly for hard grime/calcium type build ups.
2) For final shine, SIMPLE GREEN!....
Seriously speaking, that's all I do...
And Mark, you asshole...
