OMR, I'm really impressed with your original build and now rebuild, Sure was sorry to see that fateful day you got some crap fuel and that sweet motor took a dump. But...I just can't keep quiet on the guages. Yeah I can appreciate eliminating switches, but the new set up just ain't working. It just doesn't fitt that ultra clean look you've achieved.

What about this? In case the picture doesn't post here's the link:

www.kandgcycles.com/Dakota-Digital-Gauge...tage-Indicators.html

Pricey but in my opinion, really a clean look, especially if you can mount it on or below the stock handlebar clamp.

Just a thought. Good luck with the build and thanks to everyone for all the tips and great posts! This is one of the best threads going! Can't wait to see you up and running again! Lat'r! - jb

I hear ya guys no doubt, haven't truly made up my mind yet on how I want to go with it...

One thing Larry mentioned awhile back is with his gorgeous build was where he hated how small the Acewell units are. Wondered if there was a way to mount the Acewell inside one of the KZ cups....

I'll look into that as well and see what I can come up tiwh for I do have the KZ1000 instrument clusters that I could gut and work with....

If I ever get to where your at in my build Thats what I intend on doing. something about those factory cups are sexy.

they make proximty sensor that has a key fob that will turn you ignition on when you get within 3 feet of your bike so you could eliminate the key switch or mount it out of site (for emergency use) it also allows you to bypass it so its not on when your sitting on it or whatever

I am gonna have to get one (had a ignition disable fob on my Harley) and I like being able to walk up jump on hit the button and ride off and not worry when I wasnt around it.

I am going through the same dilemma right now, tough to make a decision. The originals looks so good, but I don't want anything mechanical up front. I have some ideas.. :) I like the setup OMAR, different for sure. You sure your gonna like having to reach up for the switches?

I have a DIY link for a proximity Key Fob I plan on doing on my build. I will see if I can dig it up and post it.

The only reach up would be only at start up... Key switch on, starter, low or high beam... I don't like driving too much at night for between the drunks, cell phone, texting and coyote's running across the roads just doesn't make it all that appealing.

Here's how it would look....

"I think your volt meter overpowers everything else"...

The Vdc gauge may not be an issue for what I'm really planning on is this.... Just depends on how I mount the mid pipe O2 sensor and keep it hidden under the engine....

This is what I truly want to do....
