I dont mean to Hijack here, but I see that there is a lot of talent watching this thread. I am new here and have hit a hurdle on my engine rebuild which is part of my complete restoration.
Would any of you knowledgeable fellow mind taking a look at my thread in the "engine" section titled piston ring question, to which I have received no responses. Thanks!

Story:
Last weekend ride up to Payson AZ (long winding road, rubberized asphalt surface, twist her up coming out of the corners 75-110mph, ran beautiful as always...
Coming out of the corner, hit the straight, ~ 105mph, give her some throttle and hicked up... Hmmm, WTF, no noise, thump, crack, exhaust backfire, noise what so ever... then total loss of power, start pulling over, she's not idling well going down captain.... Uh-Oh Shit....
Get off the old girl start looking around... WHOA!!!!!
This is what I see... NOT GOOD! Triple A to the rescue...
![B) B)](/media/kunena/emoticons/1.png)
Call mi amigos Plumi and Larry... "You'll never guess"....
Plumi's reply:
That-A-Boy.... Turbo or 1197 next build....
I have a welded 903 crank with new bearings already sitting here for ya so don't sweat that one. Between the two engines, build for 1197cc
Tree-Stump-Pulling Sleeper...
There ya go, just earned your stripes there RANGER....
Un-sentimental BASTARD....
Larry: More subtle to my pain....
Well Dave, you built a beautiful KZ the first time around and you've now blown up your first performance build, welcome to the big boys club.... 1197cc is where we go....
Get the head to me where once completed, she will be a mule kicking ass arm out of the socket mean ass old bitch once again...

So, I already have the KZ1000 from last year sitting there all disassembled so for the time being, open the 1000 top case sleeve ports for 1197 sleeves, use old stock cylinder and pistons so as to keep riding until the 1197 is completed.... Will be awhile so no rush....
NOTE cyclinder #4 Piston... Seriously, these images are un-touched, this is 100% what a found!

Wow, that sure is rough. Good luck with the rebuild. Any indication what caused it, or was it just a 35 year old motor giving up the ghost?

OUCH That SUCKS.
sorry to hear the bad news .
i just happen to have a set of cases hear that are bored for a 1327 kit. lol
it looks like the pin may have been getting hot and gauling ? how do the other pins look ?
this is common on Z's.
how do they get oil on those pistons?
the race shop drilled and extra oil hole on my old wiescoes, and opened the rod's oil hole .010". my new J&E's have an oil port for the pin from the oil ring groove.
