It would be a helluvalot funnier if it was a stock 900

Great data, and thanks for the cooler link OMR. Has anyone tried using hard lines around the engine? Or is there something preventing their use that I'm ignorant of?

Excellent results in today's temp test.... B)

Pretty much the same environmental ambient temps as last years measurements but the engine & oil temp measurements are significantly different....

NOTE: Based on this alone, If anyone informs you oil coolers and synthetic oil is crap... Just punch them in the face....

Last year @ 92 degrees F = 251*F
This year @ 94.6 degrees F = 214.4

Sweet! Yeah baby.... B)

Once it reaches triple digit temps 110-115, I'll accomplish one more time and post....

Way to go Dave. Some nice numbers to prove to everyone why they should have an oil cooler on their built engines. Just imagine the improved life you're gonna get with oil thats forty degrees cooler!

Great Test Dave!

Next time, shoot the carb bowls for temp as well. I'm curious to see how hot the fuel gets.

Ah crap, now you tell me....
Will do...

As mentioned have a couple months before we hit Death Valley temps, if you think of something else let me know and I'll add to the list of test points...

Outside of the oil temp, I was really surprised by the head exhaust ports and riser pipe temps... Wasn't expecting such a drop... Intake ports, sure for sucking in air generates heat but on the exhaust side to drop nearly in half... Had to to double take to see if I was aimed wrong or something....

Another thing I'm kicking my self in the ass over, should of done this test w/out the cooler first, synthetic oil difference only.... DUH!

Oh well....

How much more oil is running though your bike now? Is there a new procedure for oil changes now?

I'm told you can lower the engine temperature at least another 8 or 9 degrees by doing the coil mod.
