Thanks.

I received the Kerker 4-1 on saturday, and reading the papers that come with, Kerker used Kal-Gard head kote to paint it with.

And Kal-Gard today is Gun-Kote.

It have been stored for years, and there are some rust stains on the headers.
The ebay add claims that it was used (as in taken up from the box), and some minor scratches.
So I guess its nothing to complain about, I will sandblast it and paint it with Gun-Kote header kote.
In a much thicker layer then when Kerker did it. :P
Even the inside will be painted.

U lucked out there roy. Thats a very nice find. Is the Gun Kote header kote the same as the regular gun kote that u have been using?

Yes, I like that Kerker, wonder when they sold them out?
They got them in that "K" series still, but only for some newer models.

That Gun-Kote I use is the 2400 Series, the premier coating of Gun-Kote.
The max temperature limit is 500 degrees F.
And also in many colors and gloss.

The header paint is the 6400 Series Pure Ceramic C-Kote, Only in black, grey, and aluminium. Flat.
Maximum temperature is 1200 degrees F.

I have not used the header paint before, so I will order some.

Hi Roy ...
What is the maximum expected temperature for the engine cases and head when hot ?? do you anticipate any problems with your golden coat ??

I guess, also, that using the 6400 coating on engine and head will be an overkill, don't you ??

Please, keep us posted on your use on that 6400 coating and good luck.

Rene

The cases wont run as hot as the cyl, and head of course.my 1135 ran at 180*f normaly, and if i ran it hard on a hot day it would burry the temp guage needle at 220*. I have a new guage this year for the 1300cc build so i will let everyone know how hot they run.

I have been on a small vacation the last days, driving around in Norway in order to go on a concert in a town called Trondheim.

This was a great concert!!!

Met a Honda driver on the mountain as well.

Ok.

I think the 2400 will hold the temperatures on the engine.
I think the 6400 will be overkill on the engine, and also it is only flat, no gloss colors.

But flat is better then gloss to remove heat...

Tell us Mark1122 when you know the temperatures, I will also do some temp measurements. :cheer:

It is very much dependent on how thick the coat is. If the coat is too thick it will actually chip off. If it is very thin it will survive quite well, althou it will get quite a bit darker with age as it gets hot, over and over again. I have been useing the stuff for quite a few years and the application is very critical.
