Weight reduction is like a sickness once you get started isn't it? Its hard to stop!
I was able to get my twin cafe down to 410lbs and it could stand to lose about another 30-40 with wheel and brake swap.
Did you get it down to 410?

Dry, probably. It weighed in at 422 before fuel. 51%/49%. That's pretty good for an oldie. I could probably get it right at 400 in race trim. But it's a street bike

Right on. Its pretty cool on the first ride to see how much faster it feels with all that weight stripped off. That 140/70 rear tire looks perfect. I'm stuck with my 120 unless I can find a 3.5" wide mag.

too many words of praise...looks good...wayyyyyy good

One question...how much fun is it riding something that you built, knowing that you had your hands on everything on that bike?

good right?..real good...

Yessir. And it sure came in handy when I lost two cylinders in the fog riding it home from the shop at night last friday. Pulled into a gas station with no tools, all the pimply attendant had a pocket knife and a flathead. Coil wire came off the brass connector. I was back on the road in under ten minutes...
Besides that it feels like a whole new bike. It handles beautifully.

I'll be sure to bring my training wheels.  ;)

Speaking of, you really need to get a period-correct leather jacket (Nixon, #9 on the back, in green & white of course) to compliment your bikes new look. B)

I'm pretty sure mentioning Nixon and training wheels together in the one post is bad juju but I'll see what I can do :pinch:

All I can say is ,"What an inspiration!" The frame/swingarm mods are TOO sweet. Keeping a Zed-rod period correct is so flippin' cool...can't wait to get back to wrenching with your scoot as my muse. Thanks for the great thread, Dutch!!!!

All I can say is "WOW". That is one sweet, fantastic ride. This is the kind of bike that the magazines should be featuring.
