Thanks everyone. I measured the brake line length today. I've been using Goodridge "build-a-line"
components for years, these use swivel compression fittings and many different kinds of banjos are available. Perfect for custom brake set-ups!

I hope so Larry. I can kinda sit on the bike, not quite a full foot on the pedal but getting there. But I can ride a bicycle now so it's loosening up- I rode 10 miles yesterday and the Doc has ok-ed me for light jogging. I've been going to the gym 4 times a week on top of PT. I'm working it...

Nice job on the brakes. Looks supermoto-ish.
I noticed while I was rebuilding my 75 Z1, alot of the parts are excessively heavy. One part in particular is the lower tree, I think it weighs 20 pounds! Did you swap yours out or is there an lighter (aluminum) replacement? I'd like to trim some of the fat from my bike, but at the same time I want it to look stock.

Thank you. Yeah there's some heavy stuff on there, the center stand is a boat anchor too.
It's hard to trim fat off and have it look stock at the same time. The triple clamps (and forks) I used are off a police bike and no lighter than the stock clamp. Some of the later model 1000s had aluminum lower clamps but the top clamps and fork spacing are different so it will a) take a bunch of work to do a conversion and b) not look stock.
If you want to trim fat for better handling and stay fairly stock looking I'd focus on reducing unsprung weight: aluminum rims, EBC rotors would be a very nice start. For further weight reduction maybe pop the center stand off and get a smaller battery. None of those mods are irreversible.

Well the bike's pretty much done for now. Took it for a quick test ride last weekend... San Diego to Laguna Seca MotoGP. Boy it felt good to be back on the bike after 7 months... My knee was pretty pissed when I got home but it was worth it, had a blast...

We rode Hwy 1 through Big Sur on day 2... epic road, probably one of the best motorcycle roads in the world. Gotta ride that at least once. Bike did well ran like a charm and brakes are awesome. My wife has a bunch of pictures from Laguna I will poach some from her facebook...

Quick snap of Big Sur... You get there from the south on these wide sweeping roads... gets tighter and tighter.
