Thanks Porchev914. No plans for production, though. Unless I can figure out how to bend my own primaries  How far does your shock linkage stick out and is it centered on the swingarm?

I am so excited to fire this up for the first time and HEAR the new pipe :woohoo:

First off, you HAVE to record a clip of what that thing sounds like.
My linkage is approx 3" below the frame, centered in the swingarm, but not quite centered in the frame. It's offset a little to the left..... Thats what she said :woohoo:

 I've never recorded sound but my wife's little digital camera seems pretty good at making youtube size video clips, I'll give it a try.
No clue if the pipe would clear a linkage like that. I'll take a look at the room left in that area when it's mounted.

I'll bet the 29's would like about a 125 main jet & a 1.2 a/c jet ....just a hunch Sander :)

You never tried any other a/c jets in the CRS.

You have to try both racks of carbs with the new pipe to give things an honest comparison.

On my 1200 motor with VM33, I run O-6 needle jets - 6DH needle on 2n'd clip position and .9 air jet with 130 main jet & Vance pipe. I really like the Vance Pipe with the small collector. It's like one of the old Lazer pipes except it curves up more.

My cams are Web 493's [.415/252@.050]on 108/110 centers. I'd still like to see a Z1 intake in your bike with about a 2x exhaust cam. I was going to send you that new Z1 I have but I need it now for a motor. CM only had one Z1 on the shelf so the pair are going in Ben's motor.

I'll have to open the VMs up and see what's in there, it's been a while. IIRC I settled on 125 or 127.5 mains and 1.0 air correctors. It didn't want to pull over 100hp with bigger air jets installed, all else being equal. I think this is what I ended up with:

125 main
27.5 pilot
2nd groove
1.0 air corr.
O-6 needle jet

I will try both sets of carbs to see what difference it makes.

No worries, cam is yours, I wouldn't mind trying a Z1 cam, I will probably go through the motor a bit next winter and make a few tweaks, that would be a good time to experiment. Do they sell a single cam or do you have to buy a pair?

I second the request for an audio clip of the new pipe. The sound of a properly running KZ is one of the things that got me motivated to finish my bike. Love the pipe. Isn't it funny how a good exhaust looks like a musical instrument when it's just laying on the ground not attached to a motorcycle. It's design is lost in the entirety of the motorcycle, but on it's own, a thing of beauty.

Dig the analogy, well put. What is funny is that I read somewhere that the guy that made the Wolf exhaust (Gary Wolf) that I used the primaries off, is a music major and he " ...used his understanding of pipe lengths and diameters to maximize benefits for a desired result". Let's see if she sounds as nice as she looks :woohoo:

everything is looking great.
the pipe turned out very nice.i like the way you used small tubing for the headlight and tach mount,as if you didn't have enough stuff going on.
here lets build some brackets outta some small a$$ed tubing hehe.did you use chro-mo for the brackets?
are you going to pop out a few of those headlight number plates?that thing turned out great.
sometimes i feel like a broken record when looking at your work sander, hehe."oh that is nice, wow looky there, good job man, great eye, wonderful design,oh killer idea, damn i like that",you know all the usual start struck stuff  .
keep postin,it gives us all something to aspire to :) .

 no that is just good ole mild steel. I think I wasted a few feet before all was said and done. I'd rather blow my money on other stuff that costs way too much money
If you want a number plate I'll get a mold made. It may be a while before I can squeeze it into tooling but if you're not in a hurry...
