Is that brake fluid reservoir going to cause a problem being titled like that? I'm just wondering what will keep it from leaking or how hard it may be to check/top off the fluid. Ed

I think the angle of the pictures is throwing you off, it's not that bad. I've had clip-ons for years with the stock Z1 and Grimeca master cylinders, never a problem. Those were of a straight design. This one is actually angled so the reservoir will be more horizontal than any mc I have used before, if anything it should be better.

Thanks dude. Well I got the pipe back from the ceramic coaters, all satin black. They didn't blow any holes in it luckily. Just gotta pack the baffle and throw it on the bike now.

I also measured it to compare the final specs to Larry's calculations I was trying to approximate (for my motor/cam combo):

For 65.599 CID from 6000 to 8500 RPM

Single Primary Pipe Specs Diameter= 1.052 to 1.177 Length= 23.0 to 25.5 inches long

Best HP/TQ Tuned Collector Lengths= 13.6 , 27.1 , 54.2 , 108.4 inches long

Worst HP/TQ Loss Collector Lengths= 20.3 , 40.7 , 81.3 , 162.6 inches long

The final measurements are:
Primary OD 1.5"
Primary length 26.5"
Collector diameter: 2"
Megaphone exhaust out to 4" with a 2.5" race baffle.
Collector length (from end of primaries to end of exhaust) 29"
Overall length of system: 55.5"

Not too bad I am within a few inches of optimum lengths.
Here's a picture:

Pipe came out good Sander :) Get 'er fired up so we can see what she does

Thanks guys! One step closer to being back on the road. Now if my knee would bend another 20 degrees I could actually ride my bike as well :silly:
Jobs left:
- caliper hangers + brake lines
- dash + finish wiring
That's pretty much it I think. Another month or so I hope.

Larry, I will definitely throw it back on the Dyno to see what it does. I am even thinking of throwing the old 29s back on the bike and saving the CRs for the next project... may not have been the carbs after all?

Here's two dyno graphs, CR31s

... and VM29s. CR31s were never dialed in 100%, still need jetting.

the 29's do look to have a higher peek torque, although the 31's torque curve drops a little slower. it will be interesting to see how the new pipe affects the normal 5000 flat spot. That is where the 4-2-1 headers are supposed to fill in.
the new pipe may move the curve 500rpm as well?
Are these 2 runs back to back on the same bike? why is the scale is dif.

Same bike, same dyno, same 4th gear roll on, but 6 months apart - dates are on it  Same flat spot too. The only changes made to the bike were the addition of a dyna 2000 instead of the S (Dyna S back on bike now) and the carbs.

The scale is the same but the dyno will start recording when you push the button, and stop when you push it again. The difference you see in the lower rpm scale is caused by rider/operator only.
There are a lot more runs but these two graphs are a pretty good representation of the difference between the two sets of carbs.
You are correct, the torque curve was a bit flatter with the CRs but I could not get the same numbers as I did with the 29s. The CRs pulled through the flat spot a bit cleaner and still needed a bit more set up. The CRs are more sophisticated and easier to do needle and jet changes than the smoothbores, but did not get rid of the flat spot either. I hope the new pipe will work, or I give up

The Yosh is the only thing on the bike that has not been upgraded - everything else was done, 1075 kit, Cavanaugh head, cams, ignition, carbs.

Thanks Porchev914. No plans for production, though. Unless I can figure out how to bend my own primaries  How far does your shock linkage stick out and is it centered on the swingarm?

I am so excited to fire this up for the first time and HEAR the new pipe :woohoo:
