Using an 18" Starrett rule, the head doesn't appear warped from being overheated.

I can't understand how the cylinder cooling passages got plugged solid with grimy grit like concrete while the rest of the motor remained comparatively pristine.

Nice job!  is that a z1000 engine ?  and do you or anyone else know if it is possible to take off the sump while engine is in bike?  I cant check now because my bike is in a winter storage .

Yes! The sump comes off with the engine in situ.

ZN1100B shares the same J-model engine case, as I understand. 



BTW I replaced the original clutch push-rod O-RING, and have a few spares for cheap, if anybody needs one.
