Hi Conspiracy,
We usually take the carbs off the rack altogether and do them individually. Even if we do them on the rack they're off the bike, on a level stand being fed by an auxiliary fuel source. Either way, you'll have to do it at least 4 times (once per carb), and then only if all 4 are correct the first time. It's not unusual to check, remove/adjust the float, reassemble, check again, remove/adjust/reassemble/check/repeat a few times per carb to get them right. After all, the spec is +/- 1mm. Extremely tiny adjustments of the float tang make surprisingly large changes in fuel level.

The fuel levels all looks good.
I have been having issues with how the fuel line is routed. With the old pods I think the pods were crushed to allow the fuel line to fit between them. I am trying to prevent damaging the new pods if possible.
The fuel line fitting is right between the pods and the hose is too big to allow clean passage. What should I do? Order fuel hose with less wall? Run fuel hose from the top or bottom? Pics for clarity.

Your petcock has only one out let? Like SWest fuel lines and vent lines go up. The fuel Tee to the carbs will rotate up. Each pair carbs have a fuel line coming off the tee and go to my petcock which has two outlet tubes.

You mean your fuel lines, from the T, go straight up? I could give that a shot. What kind of line do you use?
Any chance you get snap a picture or two? Speaking of...should I be hosting pics on a different site other than uploading directly to this one?
Yes my petcock has 1 outlet, its operational so I'd rather not replace it.

Yes fuel tees face upwards....I'm using a 73-75 air box on my 76kz900
At lot easier to remove carbs then having the 76 air box.

I had the 73-75 air box here and it would not fit into my 76 frame. Did you modify the box or just "shove it in"?

I agree with the other posts, fuel lines go up, but also you may have issues with the size of fuel line you have. You should look at getting fuel lines with a smaller OD. www.denniskirk.com/motorcycle/fuel-lines-filters-and-fittings

At the bottom back of the box it has a support tab I had to cut that off because it would hit the frame . Other then that it works

Just picked up the bike from a local shop.
One of my problems was that I swapped out the 4th carb from a different set because I broke that bolt off on the throttle arm. The mechanic got the correct carb back on the rack and went about rejetting and tuning.
I had 115 mains and 20 pilots originally.
I increased the mains to 120 based on the K&N filters and Kerker pipe.
Mechanic tried to drop down to 17.5 pilots but said it was running too lean and put the 20's back in.
He dropped the mains back down to 115.
I did not see the gauges, but he said we have a good tune across all 4 carbs.

They ended up drilling out the spark plug hole even bigger to put another insert in there. The damage to the exhaust ports was also "covered up" using double gaskets. He said this should get me through the summer and maybe into next summer but eventually I will need to do a full repair job or get a new head.

The bike pulled much better, even getting on the interstate at speed. In 5th I can pull from 50-70 pretty good so I guess I am happy where I am at for now.

KZ900 should have two outlets from the petcock and it should fit to the tank with a large nut that fits on to a threaded spigot. My KZ900 has one outlet and I was baffled for a while as to why it was a completely different style petcock and fitting until I posted a picture on here and within minutes was told it appears I have a Z650 tank. Maybe you have the same? I dont know if the last Kz900s off the line used a bit of a mix of parts from the parts bin or if it was a donation from the scrap yard.

Let the good times keep rollin'
