I'm not sure what happened to the kz 750 forum but this seems like the best place to get the free manual now.

This is the best I have at the moment. I' currently have it all assembled with black side covers but still have to hunt some electrical gremlins before it will run. Wrecked it about 8 years ago, have spent that time putting it back together peice by peice.

Yep, still have the original carbs on it. I like them, but that's only because they had been taken really well care of when I got them. I have the same mikuni carb you have on my 440, way easier to fix and work on. Have you had any luck with getting it running right?

Yeah, that's pretty common for those mikuni conversions. Does it ride sluggish or just idle rich? If its just at idle i would open those air screws to three turns out on both, then check idle. If it idles great with the air screws open 3 turns then you know your on the rigjt track. Test ride it and check performace. If it starts acting up riding it, screw the air screws in half a turn and recheck till done. How high up are you in elevation? Just wondering because I had to lower my piolet jet when I moved to 5000ft. Just seen your other post, man that bike looks sweet! :woohoo:

I am in Ohio. So not very high. If I open the throttle all the way it almost dies. I think its idling rich and running rich.

The air screw will affect about the first 50% of the throttle opening in your carb. Unscrewing the air screw three turns from seated and checking is you best bet, however you may need to adjust your needle position or a few other things. Here is a really good article on tuning your carbs if the air screw doesnt help. The carb size and all the jet sizes it mentions may be different from yours but the process is all the same.

Let it sit for two days. Started it up with choke, was really gassy. Ran for a few minutes then choked itself out.

If it did that with the air screws turned all the way out then you will probably need to drop the piolet jets down a size. Will it run without choke? If the piolets are that rich it should start without choke easily! You may need to apply throttle but should still cold start easily.
