Update.
In the end I went back from disassembling the head to check everything again and fit original Kawasaki camshaft bearings.
I made sure they rotated freely, and replaced the chain tensioner with an APE one.
Also make sure the valve clearance is set as close to 0.15mm as possible.
I've been on the bike for about 160 kilometers and I'm surprised by the power it has now, the smoke is already diminishing.

Hello everyone.
After 250 kilometers I wanted to check the valve clearance, and found that almost all but three shims were damaged.
My thought is that they are of poor quality, the worst thing is that I bought more than 40 to play with the measurements.
What do you think?

They were good, now they have some small marks.

21 Jun 2023 13:24I think the oil rises normally, when I opened everything it looked fine, the crankcase studs are the original ones, I keep the oil at a high level.I am interested to see what the guys who know these engines far better than me think, looking at the lobes and bearing journals they do look (to me at least) like they have been getting hot (lack of lubrication) was there plenty of oil in the head when you opened it up and was the chain "wet" with oil?
What crankcase studs are you using?

Looks like the exhaust side is getting hot. Same shims?
