Steve,
So I suppose it isn't an issue?
If I clean it, it will surely return.

I'd clean it just for GP. Back to the valve springs. :) /  They can look good but when installed you can have mystery ticking at start up or different RPM's, they can "flutter" at high RPM's, not make the valve fully seat or just fail unexpectedly. When I pulled mine I found the inner spring was rubbing on the outer ones. My exhaust valves looked like yours and my adjustments didn't stay constant due to the carbon build up on the valves. I changed the cam bearings but it didn't change. After I changed them and the valves, my clearance went away. I was hoping for more clearance with new valves but got less. I buy my shims at jetsrus.com. $6.99 instead of $12/20 elsewhere.
I strongly suggest replacing them. After all they are 20 years old or more.
Steve

Took part all of the valves today and pulled the seals. I will post pictures tomorrow morning (at work B)

Watched your video, waiting for you to open it up. Lots of clattering noise. I'm going to get one and show a second gear pas by the Slow Birds. These arrogant cagers try to keep you behind them while looking at you in their mirror smiling. See them jump as you pass and glare at you as you wave Bye Bye. I even had a old guy on a Ducate try to keep me behind him, he'd weave side to side to prevent me from passing, cut in front of me at a stop sign with a teen age passenger on the back. The next day at the market, he yelled at me for passing him on the right pulling away from the sign. I said "excuse me sir, not only were you impeding traffic and creating a hazard but you were endangering a child, MORON". Some times a bolt would be kicked up by my tire. I wonder why?

Steve- they looked fine. But you think it's a good idea to change the springs?
Do you think that could possibly have been part of the problem?

It's obvious the seals were the problem and maybe the rings too to some degree. I do suggest replacing the springs.
The seller on eBay is oemcycles kibblewhite valve spring kit 40-1007, $63.96, free shipping.
Got mine in 3 days. Gave 5 star revue.
You won't regret it.

Are the seals Viton? They are far superior than the OEM style. Kibblewhite has been a racing fixture for 100 years. Don't know about APE or where they are made.

Swest, Bout those Kibble Whites, what's the difference between their heavy/high lift springs and their light/low lift springs? Can't rattle their lift numbers off but still, what's the diff?
Can't get enough info, my mind is like a sponge.

I believe it has to do with what cam you are running. I know I purchased KW springs and was unsure which to buy to I called Kibble Whites and told them it was a stock cam and they told me the PN I was looking at would be fine for stock to basic street cams.
