Do you have to order the oil filter and oil filter gasket or is it something that they motorcycle dealers normally have in stock ?

How do you change the oil on this bike ? On the other 2 bikes that I had, the oil filter was visable. Where is the oil drain plug and how many are there. Where is the filter located ? I don't see it in the Haynes manual.

I was able to get the oil changed today. Changed the oil filter also. Started the bike and let is run for a few minutes. I still have the same problem with the clutch, but at least I know that the oil is new. Is it possible that the clutch itself is locked up ? When I pull the clutch lever in, I do see the bolt/screw that sits behind the clutch cover move, but it does not move very much. I dont know how much it it supposed to move.

not to be a smart azz.
but when you had oil drained you should of open the clutch cover(big round cover) and removed presure plate and springs and look at your clutch pac (friction-metal-friction-metal and so forth.
all it takes is some cooked plates and you have clutch drag and all that other stuff that the cable adjustment cant do.and push rod adjustment.

How much oil will spill if I take the clutch cover off now ? Is there a gasket that will be needed ?

if on the sidestand alittle oil or open drain plug and remove some oil and put drain plug back in quick.
the way its sounds i bet you your clutch plates are fried.

if you go inside clutch take your time and keep all parts in order of removal.

it sounds like a hard job,but its not
after you do this you will say shit that was easy!!

best of luck

I hopefully will have time to check the clutches tomorrow. How can I tell if the clutches are good or not ?

I got the clutches out last night. I will be measuring them today to see if they meet the standards in the manual.

I checked the clutch disk thickness today and some of them are measuring .125 in. Looks like i'll be APE extra disk heavy duty clutch pack from Z1, unless someone has another option.
