i think you should get that motor for sure man, if you think he's not bullshitting you about it, and the comp is good and it turns freely then hell yeah. clean it up and you have a kz900 on your hands which is more than most people can say.

yeah i hear you man. gatta scrap up some change here so i can go get it. he is about 2 hours away, and until i even go there i need to have him do that compression test, and be willing to do one when i get there to verify the #'s. it seems he has been building these bikes for a while now. he retired in 1998.

if the 900 cc works out...what do you recommend i do with it? honestly...i think i am going to make it a drag bike. it doesnt need to the the fastest, most exspensive motor rebuild, but what are some ideas? if i bore the 900 motor can i use my 1000cc pistons, or will i have to buy pistons? vs buying new pistons prices...are they super exspensive?

The 903cc sleeves can be bored to accept the 1015cc pistons. Aftermarket pistons (i.e. Wiseco's) will give you more compression than the stock Kz1000's, but that's about the biggest difference. If you're looking to be cost effective and the engine has compression and you just want it to drive right now....then don't do anything. Just get it going.

My short term recommendations would be to do nothing except get it running. Once you've got a runner, the sky's the limit! You can use the 1000 engine to build a hot rod while you ride the 900 engine around. At least thats what I'd do ;)

Good point- then you'd be able to ride and save up the money to make a decent hopped up motor. And the Kz1000 cylinders allow you to go quite a bit bigger than the Z1/Kz900 cylinders do without swapping sleeves.

ok, that sounds fine and dandy. but tell me...ok the cylinder sleeves are not pressed in my cylinders anymore. how would you go about fixing that, or is my block bad and not reusable? i was told that the sleeve is what acually gets bored, not the block, is that rue? and if it is true, is there a way to keep the block and get sleeves that might be a bit bigger to fit?

i just need to know if my block..cylinders are keepable.

In your case, I think I would just go with a 1200cc kit. That would replace the current sleeves and any apprehension you still have about them. I kinda wish I would have gone with a 1200. It would have made running FCR35's much easier...... the black and gold Yosh ones, drooooooooooooool :woohoo:
