Sandy, I'm guessing you wouldn't have heard it approaching from the rear even if he'd had open pipes.
On the contrary.
When the guy was beside me AND ahead of me,he was still too quiet.
I could barely hear the bike, and considering the speed he was going, one would think the revs would be in the higher-range,as it was in a long, gradual corner, and heading UP-hill.
I do my BEST to pay attention in traffic, for motorcyclists...it's in my blood.
My opinion(like assholes,and everyone having one)...louder pipes DO save lives...it's simple...MY opinion.

I think the message that some would convey is we agree with you, and others would like to say that your a mentally deficient 24 year old with a serious gap in your reasoning who is asking for trouble. All I care is that you don't live in my neighborhood now break out the torch and get rid of the back-pressure.

A. i would like to just gut the stock mufflers and go with that because its free.
B. is there just a way a can rip the baffles out of the stock mufflers? that would be ideal as it is freeee.
C. i'm a 24 year old and a mechanic, which means, you guessed it, i'm pretty broke.
D. i have a 2001 dodge dakota 408 stroker with SCT tune and 11:1 compression, full heads, cam, and every bolt on you can imagine, and bottle coming soon.
If you said D you win a twinkie.

this got out of hand quick.
just for the record, i run the 1100 with stock exhaust, the 650 is wide open and the 1260 will be as well.
there are pleanty of people on my street i could harass about their CAR needing a new muffler/exhaust system that ride by my house at all hours of the day.
it is a few seconds of inconvience just like the planes flying overhead.
should i bitch to the airport as well?
for christ's sake people, lighten up.
he don't live next door to you does he?
i'll tell you what.
let's just flame a new member and drive him away because you have a axe to grind about a loud bike.
he has a loud bike so he must not have anything to share with us i guess.
not that it means anything but this is EXACTALLY why i have not been posting too much lately.
you might as well talk about religion and force your views down everyone's throat.
leave the guy alone and let him enjoy his bike for christ's sake.
( please feel free to flame me for having an opinion, i have broad shoulders, i can take it )
someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.

you cant let these guys get to you....actually you can...everyone gets riled up on here once in a while...but these guys will help you anytime and really mean no harm....they smell blood and pack attack....now just run whatever you want...just know that most folks here think loud pipes are a bad idea and make public problems....oh and loud pipes suck too....peace craig
Probably because most of us are in our 50's or more! :woohoo:
And just for the record, I took off my vintage Kerker which has been on my bike for 28 years and installed a nice stock exhaust. It's a whole differant bike! I like it and it looks more classic than ever!
